Job Description

Oversee the Convention Services and Catering Sales Department by ensuring a consistent product to standards, while maximizing profitability and protecting the integrity of the guest experience.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure catering sales meet assigned production goals and catering budget.
  • Ensure smooth flow of information (communication) from Sales to Banquet Services and the Food & Beverage Department.
  • Prospect and establish an expanding base of accounts.
  • Monitor and evaluate, on a continuous basis, the level of service maintained by the Banquet Department.
  • Prepare and present monthly and annual department forecasts and budgets for the Hotel.
  • Prepare Catering Sales Action Plans in order to focus on client needs and maximize gap periods.
  • Ensure that the department standards are met and that all company policies and procedures are adhered to.
  • Perform annual performance reviews for all Catering Sales Managers and Convention Service Managers.
  • Collaborate with Executive Chef to complete Banquet and Catering menus and update on an annual basis.
  • Attend/Conduct all designated Sales and Banquet meetings.
  • Plan, evaluate, organize and direct the activities of the Convention Services Managers.
  • Establish and maintain rapport with outside purveyors, who provide services for the Hotel and its guests through the Convention Services Department.
  • Attend weekly staff and group resume meetings.
  • Tours the hotel function space and spot checks meeting room setups.
  • Ensure that the desired level of quality is maintained in all meeting room sets on a continuing basis.
  • Ensure that all file turnover requirements are fulfilled.
  • Meets with major converntion/meeting planners/impactful groups to the Hotel to coordinate final arrangements for convention/meetings.
  • Oversee the coordination of the detailing of all group related events.
  • Attend out of hotel meetings as required.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years experience as an Assistant Director or Director of Convention Services, with Catering Sales experience preferred.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • College degree preferred.
  • Knowledge of the operations of the hotel industry.
  • Dynamic, enthusiastic, creative leader who thrives under pressure and is able to perform multiple functions and troubleshot when needed.
  • Proven track record in achieving catering and banquet goals.
  • Ability to drive, motivate and lead convention services and Catering Sales leaders.
  • Must have proven selling, negotiating and presentation skills.
  • Highly developed customer service skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Proficient computer skills including but not limited to Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook. Delphi experience preferred.
  • The ability to delegate, effectively train and coach.
  • Flexible to work evenings, weekends and holidays as needed to meet business needs.

Pay: $120,000.00 - $150,000.00/annually. The pay scale provided is a range that Omni Hotels & Resorts reasonably expects to pay. Actual compensation offered may fluctuate based on a candidate’s qualifications and/or experience.
