Job Description

Join the TRT Holdings tax team as a Preliminary State Tax Accountant, where you'll take the lead on complex multistate tax compliance, strategy, and analysis for a diverse portfolio of entities. This position is based in Dallas, TX at the Omni/TRT Corporate Office and is an in office position.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for multistate tax income/franchise/capital tax filings for TRT Holdings, Inc., all subsidiaries and related entities.
    • Review and assist with preparation of state, corporate (unitary, combined, consolidated, stand-alone) partnership, composite and individual returns
    • Review and assist with preparation of detailed workpapers for state tax estimates and extensions
    • Review and assist with preparation of multistate apportionment calculations
  • Responsible for multistate tax research and analysis
  • Responsible for evaluating federal income tax law changes for how it affects state tax
  • Responsible for scenario-based calculations related to entity conversions, new acquisitions, new investments, mergers and sale
  • Responsible for handling state tax audits, meeting with and negotiating with auditors from state taxing authorities, responding to IDRs, reviewing and analyzing proposed audit adjustments, researching state tax laws, reviewing similar state tax cases, recalculating and responding to auditors, coordinating with legal counsel, when necessary
  • Responsible for managing and evaluating correspondence with multistate Departments of Revenue regarding receipt of notices
  • Responsible for state tax portion of tax provision, including analysis of year-end state tax expense, state tax A/P, A/R shareholder, and state Net Operating Losses.
  • Responsible for providing state tax reconciliations and AJEs for reconciliation with financial statements

Qualifications

  • 5-7 years experience with multistate tax, required
  • Ability to work with Excel, Word, Powerpoint, required
  • Experience with CCH Prosystem tax software, a plus
  • MBA and CPA, preferred
