Pontoque Resort at Punta de Mita

 

 

Opening in early 2027, Omni Hotels & Resorts has officially broken ground and construction is well underway on Omni Pontoque Resort at Punta de Mita, the brand’s first luxury resort in Mexico. Staying true to the brand’s mission of creating elevated places and spaces that are inspired by a destination, the resort’s exterior and interiors will pay homage to the local culture with a contemporary twist.

 

This beachfront resort will feature 244 guest rooms and suites and two 4-bedroom villas with sweeping views of the Bay of Banderas. Complementing the local area’s many attractions and activities, the resort will offer three original restaurant concepts, a destination spa with 14 treatment rooms, two retail shops, multiple pools including adult-only and family-friendly options, a state-of-the-art indoor and outdoor fitness center, and a kids club. Boasting over 27,000 square feet of meeting and event space, the Omni Pontoque will feature a 6,000 square foot ballroom, an open-air pavilion, multiple event lawns and dedicated meeting rooms, all of which provide breathtaking ocean views.

Job Description

 

Debuting in early 2027, the Omni Pontoque Resort at Punta de Mita will be Omni’s first owned and managed property in Mexico. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity as the opening Director of Group Sales, to establish Omni’s presence in Mexico.

 

To assist in implementing all strategies and activities to generate and maximize overall revenue, through marketing, sales, promotion, advertising, and public relations that will impact positively on all operating departments of the hotel, thereby resulting in a profitable return on the ownership’s investment. To assist the Director of Sales and Marketing in support of the sales operation and work closely with the Catering Sales, Conference Services Department, and Reservations Department to maximize revenues; maintain positive interdepartmental communications; contribute to the overall direction and operation of the hotel and to effectively control and minimize all marketing expenses while exceeding overall budgeted revenues and occupancy.

A strong preference will be given to candidates located on-site in Punta de Mita, while exceptional candidates from key markets in the United States may be considered for a remote role.

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Ensure full maximization of rooms potential.
  • Work with Director of Sales and Marketing to develop and implement a comprehensive group sales strategy to maximize revenue and profitability.
  • Lead, mentor, and coach the Group Sales team to achieve performance targets and professional growth.
  • Analyze market trends, competitor activity, and customer feedback to identify new opportunities and adjust strategies accordingly.
  • Stimulate productivity of all sales staff through guidance, development, and support.
  • Active solicitation of key accounts to generate direct sales.
  • Maintain Sales Team’s focus on a Proactive Solicitation environment.
  • Assist the Director of Sales and Marketing in developing and implementing the budgeting and forecasting process.
  • Promote high visibility of hotel through active involvement in industry associations and trade shows.
  • Assist the Director of Sales and Marketing to ensure a challenging and exciting environment to encourage full career development and personal growth.
  • Support and promote all corporate programs to increase customer awareness of Omni Hotels and ensure that the customer receives the appropriate benefits of each program.
  • Through Conference Services Department, maintain product and assure the protection and cleanliness of the owner’s physical assets.

 

Qualifications

  • Previous resort experience required
  • Bilingual (Spanish & English) required
  • Opening resort experience preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of resort sales experience in a director or senior leadership capacity.
  • Must be a self-motivated team player who consistently contributes positive energy.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and the proven ability to excel in a team-oriented setting.
  • Outstanding capability in delivering group presentations, both written and oral.
  • Adept at managing multiple priorities and effectively re-prioritizing when necessary.
  • Robust business planning, account planning, and budget management expertise.
  • Demonstrated ability to be innovative in developing revenue-driving strategies.
  • Proven track record of connecting strategic actions directly to measurable results.
  • Established relationships with incentive intermediaries.
  • Strong financial/statistical analysis and business case development skills.
  • Profound understanding and expertise in the sales process.
  • Extensive experience in account management.
  • Proficient in the use of Delphi, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
