Opening in early 2027, Omni Hotels & Resorts has officially broken ground and construction is well underway on Omni Pontoque Resort at Punta de Mita, the brand’s first luxury resort in Mexico. Staying true to the brand’s mission of creating elevated places and spaces that are inspired by a destination, the resort’s exterior and interiors will pay homage to the local culture with a contemporary twist.

 

This beachfront resort will feature 244 guest rooms and suites and two 4-bedroom villas with sweeping views of the Bay of Banderas. Complementing the local area’s many attractions and activities, the resort will offer three original restaurant concepts, a destination spa with 14 treatment rooms, two retail shops, multiple pools including adult-only and family-friendly options, a state-of-the-art indoor and outdoor fitness center, and a kids club. Boasting over 27,000 square feet of meeting and event space, the Omni Pontoque will feature a 6,000 square foot ballroom, an open-air pavilion, multiple event lawns and dedicated meeting rooms, all of which provide breathtaking ocean views.

Opening in Early 2027 

In early 2027, Omni Hotels & Resorts will debut its first owned and managed property in Mexico: the Omni Pontoque Resort at Punta de Mita — a sanctuary of oceanfront beauty that will set a new benchmark for ultra-luxury hospitality in the region. This extraordinary resort marks Omni’s arrival into the elite tier of international luxury resorts, where personalized service, world-class dining, and transformative experiences define every stay. 

With 202 elegantly appointed guestrooms, 42 expansive suites, and two private villas — each with sweeping Pacific views — the resort invites guests into a realm of effortless sophistication. From jungle-framed treatment rooms in the full-service spa to three infinity-edge pools overlooking the ocean, every detail inspires serenity and connection. Guests will savor regionally inspired cuisine at three signature restaurants and celebrate life’s milestones in 27,000 square feet of indoor and open-air event space designed for destination weddings, executive retreats, and high-profile gatherings.

The Director of Engineering is responsible for ensuring proper training and supervision of all Engineering personnel and to provide consistent, cost-effective maintenance programs that ensure the property’s safe and efficient operation. 

 

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and operate, in an economic, legal and safe manner, all R&M & Utility expenses. 
  • Managing Birchstreet for all R&M expenses, participate in all month-end financial process and forecasting. 
  • Supervise a comprehensive maintenance and preventative maintenance program for public spaces, guestrooms and equipment. All work request and preventive maintenance to be managed in Synergy. 
  • Coordinate with other departments to maintain general conditions and adhere to safety, health standards and legal requirements set forth by hotel policy. 
  • Recruit, interview, hire, train, and discipline engineering associates in coordination with the Director of Associate Services.  
  • Recommend capital budget projects, obtain bids, and oversee contractors for project execution. Manage special permits and licenses as required. 
  • Ensure timely and accurate completion of work by external vendors and contractors. 
  • Maintain own and resort’s special permits and licenses as required by local, state and federal authorities. 
  • Control schedules, staffing, and payroll for the Engineering team. Maintain personnel records, utility logs, and engineering records. 
  • Follow all company safety and security policies and procedures; report accidents, injuries, and unsafe work conditions; complete safety training and certifications.  
  • Follow all company policies and procedures; ensure clean uniform and professional personal appearance; maintain confidentiality of proprietary information; protect company assets.  
  • Ensure adherence to quality expectations and standards; identify, recommend, develop, and implement new ways to increase organizational efficiency, productivity, quality, safety, and/or cost-savings 
  • Responsible for scheduling and facilitating monthly department meetings. 
  • Effectively coach and counsel associates as needed and complete performance evaluations. 
  • Attend all company required training. 
  • Champion the Omni / Power of One / Power of Engagement culture. 

Qualifications

  • 4+ years’ experience as a hotel/resort Director of Engineering 
  • Bilingual fluency in Spanish & English 
  • Proven pre-opening leadership experience strongly preferred. 
  • Track record in oceanfront resort operations advantageous. 
  • Exceptional leadership presence with the ability to inspire teams and engage high-profile guests with discretion and elegance. 
  • Experience in a unionized environment a plus. 
  • Minimum 5 years’ hospitality Engineering experience required or in a similar field. 
  • Certification in HVAC, electrical, plumbing is preferred. CPO and EPA certifications are required 
    • If currently do not possess, it will be required to obtain within 6 months of employment. 
  • Expertise in mechanical, electrical, plumbing, building management, and all life safety systems pertinent to hotel operations. 
  • Knowledgeable in safety use for: power tools, general engineering tools and equipment, pool pumps and filtration systems. 
  • Knowledgeable in ADA requirements, power, water and sewer distribution, blueprints, fire codes and fire protection.  
  • Demonstrate excellent leadership, organizational and communication skills. Must possess effective teamwork and guest relations. 
  • Demonstrates understanding and application of management approaches for work direction, motivation, performance management, and disciplinary action.  
  • Ability to ensure administrative functions and duties are assigned and completed, according to Omni standards, including timekeeping, vendor contracts, and personnel action forms. 
  • Possess Relevant industry certifications and licenses as required by local authorities. 
  • Must be able to work a flexible to include holidays and weekends. 

Physical Requirements: 

  • Move, bend, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects of moderate to heavy weight without assistance. Stand or walk for an extended period or for an entire work shift. 
  • Responds quickly to sounds. Moves safely over uneven terrain. Identify and respond to dangerous situations. Safely climb ladders while carrying moderate to heavy weight. Wear personal protective equipment when required. 

Working Environment: 

  • Exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures. 
  • Exposure to various hazardous chemicals. 

Tools & Equipment: 

  • Power tools and general engineering tools for HVAC, electrical and plumbing equipment.  
  • Desktop computer, printer, telephone, fax, copier, telephone, to include other office supplies and equipment.
