Job Description

 

To fully develop a specific Group Market Segment within a specified geographic/vertical territory as designated by the Director of Sales, concentrating on the solicitation of new and profitable business while retaining existing business from that market. The Director of National Sales  is responsible to merchandise as skillfully as possible the guest rooms and function space to maximize revenue potential for the hotel and to ensure that the customer has the best possible meeting experience, and is expected to achieve monthly room night and revenue goals, develop and implement sales action plans, maintain positive interdepartmental communications and to complete special projects as assigned by the Director of Sales. While not in a supervisory role, this individual is a leader in performance and is aptly capable of representing Omni as a leader in the marketplace.

 

Responsibilities

  • Actively solicits and manages a major market on behalf of their hotel/resort
  • Plan and maintain regular communications with, and actively solicit additional business from, Hotel key accounts
  • Communicate and/or meet with parties interested in the Hotel’s services and assess the parties’ needs and whether the requested services would be a profitable or best use of the Hotel’s rooms and space consistent with client needs and budgets
  • Prepare guest proposals with various options available for hotels services and products (rooms, events, F&B, convention or meeting space, pricing, dates, locations) that are consistent with the goal of high guest satisfaction and with other Hotel bookings and profitability standards
  • Negotiate, prepare, and review terms of contracts for hotel services in compliance with hotel billing and rate guidelines and under supervision of Director of Sales
  • Meet or exceed targets for prospecting of sales opportunities and targets for revenue streams, as determined by hotel management
  • Execute and manage internal processes necessary to reserve and confirm the negotiated contract services, including blocking of guest rooms, meeting space, and catering requirements
  • Assist Director of Sales to stimulate productivity of all sales staff through guidance, development, and support
  • Assist the Director of Sales in developing and implementing the budgeting and forecasting process for the Hotel
  • Promote high visibility of hotel through active involvement in industry associations and trade shows
  • Provide mentorship and professional development to lower level and less experienced sales employees
  • Support and promote all corporate programs to increase customer awareness of Omni Hotels and ensure that the customer receives the appropriate benefits of each program
  • Maintain a record of prompt and regular attendance at assigned work location and for work assignments, as scheduled by hotel managers
  • Interact and communicate positively and professionally with guests, prospective guests, key accounts, coworkers, and visitors to the Hotel
  • Use computer and electronic devices and related software properly and effectively to communicate, including email, and to prepare reports and analyses of sales activity
  • Plan, prioritize, and implement sales strategies and sales plans, manage multiple tasks and deadlines, and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Complete assigned tasks and projects in a timely manner and as directed by hotel management
  • Contribute to and support the maintenance of a safe working environment, and perform all work in compliance with hotel safety standards and all legal requirements
  • Comply with Hotel and Corporate policies and procedures and all applicable legal and regulatory requirements
  • Attend and contribute to regular meetings of sales team and Hotel leadership, including daily meetings or interactions with Director of Sales regarding occupancy, business forecasts, and future availability of hotel rooms and services

Qualifications

 

  • History of exceeding production goal year after year
  • Proven track record in group sales and market development
  • Strong closing skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to develop strategic sales plans with measurable results
  • Execute compelling site inspections that lead to impressive closing ratios
  • Creativity in sales proposals to advance business opportunities
  • Experience in working with highly experienced Global Sales Offices
  • Ability to up-sell and have strong knowledge of F&B, Spa, Retail and AV sales
  • Ability to create and deliver impactful presentations
  • Proactively explore networking opportunities
  • A command and mastery of  Delphi Salesforce
  • Lifelong learner with completion of professional sales development programs
  • Community leadership experience

Qualifications:

  • Position requires that candidate have at least an associates degree, bachelors degree preferred, and/or three-five years or more of sales experience in a luxury resort environment.
  • Must have at least 5 years’ experience as a Sales Manager in hotels,preferably a convention hotel.
  • Must have outstanding selling skills.
