Pontoque Resort at Punta de Mita

 

 

Opening in early 2027, Omni Hotels & Resorts has officially broken ground and construction is well underway on Omni Pontoque Resort at Punta de Mita, the brand’s first luxury resort in Mexico. Staying true to the brand’s mission of creating elevated places and spaces that are inspired by a destination, the resort’s exterior and interiors will pay homage to the local culture with a contemporary twist.

 

This beachfront resort will feature 244 guest rooms and suites and two 4-bedroom villas with sweeping views of the Bay of Banderas. Complementing the local area’s many attractions and activities, the resort will offer three original restaurant concepts, a destination spa with 14 treatment rooms, two retail shops, multiple pools including adult-only and family-friendly options, a state-of-the-art indoor and outdoor fitness center, and a kids club. Boasting over 27,000 square feet of meeting and event space, the Omni Pontoque will feature a 6,000 square foot ballroom, an open-air pavilion, multiple event lawns and dedicated meeting rooms, all of which provide breathtaking ocean views.

Job Description

Opening in the early 2027, the Omni Pontoque Resort at Punta de Mita will be Omni’s first owned and managed property in Mexico. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity as the opening Director of Marketing to establish Omni’s presence in Mexico. 

  

The Director of Marketing is a dynamic and strategic leader responsible for driving the overall marketing strategy and execution for our resort property. This role is focused on elevating brand awareness, increasing market share, and driving revenue through integrated marketing initiatives across leisure, group, spa, F&B, golf, and other resort-specific segments. The ideal candidate brings a blend of creativity, analytical thinking, team leadership, and hospitality insight. 

This position is primarily based at the resort, with remote arrangements considered for highly qualified candidates. Preference will be given to applicants located on the West Coast of the United States or in Mexico City. Remote candidates should anticipate travel obligations of approximately 25–30%. 

Responsibilities

Strategic Planning & Brand Management 

  • Work alongside the Director of Sales & Marketing to lead the strategic direction, planning, and execution of marketing and communication efforts. 
  • Develop and implement the annual marketing plan aligned with the resort’s revenue goals and brand vision. 
  • Ensure brand consistency across all channels and touchpoints. 
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with resort departments including Rooms, Spa, Golf, Membership, F&B, and Events to align messaging and strategic efforts. 
  • Work closely with corporate marketing to align local and national efforts. 
  • Create and present marketing reports highlighting campaign performance, market trends, guest engagement, and ROI to stakeholders and ownership groups. 

Team Leadership & Development 

  • Lead and mentor a high-performing marketing team including a Marketing Manager, Marketing Coordinator, and agency partners. 
  • Foster a collaborative environment that encourages growth, creativity, and accountability. 

 

Digital Marketing, CRM & E-Commerce 

  • Lead the resort’s digital presence including SEO, paid media, website optimization, email marketing, and social media. 
  • Lead CRM and loyalty strategy including targeted guest communications. 
  • Analyze online traffic, conversion metrics, and guest engagement to drive booking performance. 

 

Public Relations & Communications 

  • Partner with PR agencies to pitch stories, manage media visits, and drive earned media placement. 
  • Oversee the creation and distribution of press releases, media kits, and promotional content. 
  • Manage crisis communication and reputation strategy when needed. 

Content & Creative Strategy 

  • Direct the development of photo, video, and written content to showcase the resort’s offerings. 
  • Oversee brand photography and videography production, managing the digital asset library for consistent visual storytelling. 
  • Maintain a content calendar that supports seasonal campaigns, packages, and promotions. 

Event, Experiential & Partnership Marketing 

  • Design and execute marketing plans for resort activations, holiday campaigns, and large-scale events. 
  • Develop and lead demand-driving initiatives that attract new audiences and drive visibility across key segments. 
  • Cultivate partnerships with local organizations, tourism boards, and lifestyle brands to expand reach and guest engagement. 
  • Identify, secure, and activate strategic sponsorships to support event programming and resort exposure. 

 

Revenue Collaboration & Budget Oversight 

  • Partner with sales, revenue, and operations teams to support demand generation and maximize profitability. 
  • Develop promotional strategies for need dates and shoulder seasons. 
  • Manage the resort marketing budget including forecasting, reporting, and ROI evaluation. 
  • Oversee external agency and vendor relationships, including PR firms, advertising agencies, and production partners. 

Qualifications

  • Previous Mexico resort experience required 
  • Bi-Lingual (Spanish & English) required 
  • Opening resort experience preferred 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, or related field. 
  • 7–10 years of progressive marketing experience in hospitality or luxury lifestyle brands, with at least 3 years in a leadership role. 
  • Proven track record in digital marketing, branding, and ROI-driven campaigns. 
  • Strong leadership, project management, and budget oversight skills. 
  • Experience with analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics, STR reports, CRM platforms). 
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills. 
  • Passion for travel, hospitality, and exceptional guest experiences. 

 

  • Preferred Experience 
  • Previous marketing leadership at a luxury resort or full-service hotel. 
  • Familiarity with wellness, golf, culinary, and/or destination experiences. 
  • Experience working with marketing agencies, photographers, and creative teams.
