Scheduled to open in late spring 2018, this luxurious Omni property located in the heart of Downtown Louisville, is designed with intersecting towers that represent the crossroads of the past, present and future of Louisville. The hotel will be a prominent landmark against the Louisville skyline, glistening during the day and glowing at night, with the iconic glassy ends of the 612 room hotel. The hotel pool and rooftop bar, designed for seamless indoor and outdoor integration, will allow guests to rest, relax or socialize with spectacular views of the city from above. The essence of Louisville is woven throughout with interior design blends elements of the city’s heritage, culture and character, felt everywhere from the hotel restaurants to a featured bourbon bar to the hotel’s Speakeasy and bowling alley.
 
Guests will also enjoy a dynamic 20,000 square foot modern urban lifestyle market connected to the lobby of the hotel. Transforming Liberty Street into a pedestrian thoroughfare, the market serves as a community gateway for hotel guests and locals alike, inviting the neighborhood in with the smells of freshly brewed Heine Bros. coffee, baking bread and fragrant fresh flowers.

 

Job Description

To ensure the highest level of service in the Retail Shop. Ensuring maximum guest satisfaction in a consistent and controlled atmosphere providing gift shop products. Manager must deliver outstanding Customer Service and ensure that service personnel follow service scenario.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for managing coordinating all functions of the gift shop, including inventory, ordering & re-stocking of the retail shop. 
  • Screening, hiring, training, supervision and scheduling of all retail staff. 
  • Interact with other departments to ensure that guest’s needs are satisfied. 
  • Speak with guests in a friendly, warm manner, making them feel welcome. 
  • Assist with monthly inventory. 
  • Adhere to all policies regarding gift shop employee purchases. 
  • Ensure the delivery of all items called for from guest rooms by confirmation with guests and verify guest room number for room charges. 
  • Ensure that the lobby public areas are maintained, clean & tidy by liaison with the Housekeeping Dept. 
  • Interact with other departments to ensure that guest needs are satisfied. 
  • Do not leave merchandise unsecured. 
  • Follow proper procedure for payment of goods sold. 
  • Maintain a cash bank. 
  • Comply at all times with Omni standards & regulations to encourage safe & efficient hotel operations. 
  • Be thoroughly acquainted with all guest scenarios and utilize at all times. 

Qualifications

  • Must have minimum two years experience in a hotel, resort and/or retail environment. Previous supervisory role or experience required.
  • Previous cash handling experience required. Prior inventory experience required.
  • Must be creative, with the ability to assemble product displays and select high end retail product.
  • Must be able to learn product details and serve as sales person for items offered.
  • Ability to clearly and pleasantly communicate both verbally and in writing in English with guests, management and co-workers, both in person and by telephone
  • Ability to accurately and efficiently input information into computer systems with developed computer proficiencies.
  • Ability to work cohesively with co-workers both within and outside of your department
  • Ability to think clearly, quickly and make concise decisions
  • Ability to work well under pressure, managing a high volume of reservations and guest requests.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and provide guest follow up in a fast paced environment.
  • Ability to handle stressful situations, while maintaining a calm and welcoming demeanor.
  • Able to work with management on special projects.
  • Able to set priorities for the retail team and provide feedback to others that enhances performance.
  • Candidate must have proven leadership skills and must be able to direct, develop and motivate staff. 
  • Ability to teach employees importance of, and how to greet guests and courteously solve requests
  • Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing up to 30 pounds without assistance. Requires bending, kneeling and reaching overhead.
  • Stand or walk for an extended period or for an entire work shift.
