Job Description

The Assistant Golf Professional will ensure all members are greeted and welcomed in a professional and courteous manner. He/She will provide assistance on the golf course, meeting all of the members and/or hotel guest’s needs within specified standards.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure that all members and guests are greeted and welcomed in a professional and courteous manner.

 

  • Answer questions and proved assistance and information to customers.

 

  • Answer telephones to schedule future starting times and communicate information in a pleasant and professional manner.

 

  • Accurately operate point of sale system, verify the accuracy of prices of state and federal taxes and other charges on all sales tickets. Collect green fees and cart fees.

 

  • Acquire and facilitate a working knowledge of “back of the house” operations for POS Manager system and IBS Tee Times to insure proper function and integration of these systems.

 

  • Work closely with Tournament Director to ensure proper communication, preparation, execution and billing of tournament outings.

 

  • Professionally communicate information, sell merchandise, and become fully knowledgeable in all products and sales techniques. Anticipate the needs of members and guests to offer appropriate merchandise alternatives.

 

  • Responsible for managing, opening, closing and securing golf shop and storage areas using established procedures.

 

  • Maintain golf shop revenue generated through golf shop sales.

 

  • Assist with physical inventories, as prescribed by Director of Retail and Head Golf Professional.

 

  • Maintain and assist in the club’s golf handicap system.

 

  • Ensure the “pace of play” standard is maintained daily.

 

  • Directly manage Junior Assistant Golf Professionals, Golf Shop Assistants, and Receptionists to ensure all aspects of Golf Shop operations are in line with standards.

 

  • Indirectly manage Outside Services Supervisors.

Qualifications

Additional Requirements:

  • Position requires the ability to lift 20 –30 pounds
  • Good organizational and verbal skills.
  • Ability to use logical and rational thinking to solve problems.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations, including calculations involving fractions, decimals and percentages.
  • Ability to effectively monitor and develop subordinates.
  • Ability to play golf with members and guests.
  • Flexibility in hours, ability to manage multiple tasks
  • Be quick and efficient and ability to effectively handle the pressure and demand of making multiple drinks.
  • Be able to withstand various weather conditions.
  • Must be able to function calmly under pressure.
  • Cash Handling

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work in difficult weather conditions including heat, rain, and humidity
  • The individual must be able to lift, move, push, pull, and carry up to 30 pounds without assistance 

 

Working Environment:

  • Daily environmental exposures to cold, heat, humidity, and other outdoor conditions
  • Must show ability to work in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to work in a team oriented environment
  • Possesses stamina and energy to remain active and move quickly for up to 10 hour shifts
  • Ability to hear, understand and respond to guest and staff requests in a loud environment

 

Tools & Equipment:

  • Knowledge and operating of the MICROS/IBS System
  • Compute basic arithmetic, specifically in cash handling situations
