    Job Description

    Prepares and bakes cakes, cookies, pies, puddings, or desserts. Creates new dessert menus for restaurants and banquets and brings innovative ideas to the table. Manages and coaches pastry team.

    Responsibilities

    1. Assist Executive Chef in all areas of culinary operations.
    1. Responsible for all scheduling, purchasing, quality control and discipline in all areas of kitchen operation.
    1. Daily follow up on all product freshness, rotation and development.
    1. Communicate all safety and sanitation policies through daily dialogue with all hourly staff.
    1. Develop and challenge existing processes of standardization with focus on expense control and quality.
    1. Develop dessert menus for restaurant and banquets.
    1. Develop pastry displays for holiday buffets.
    1. Challenge existing pastry products to improve on cost, quality, and consistency.

    Qualifications

    • Must have 3-5 years in a Pastry Management Role, preferrably in a 4 or 5 diamond hotel.

    • Pastry degree or apprenticeship certification.  Restaurant degree or apprenticeship certification.

    • Must have great leadership skills.
    • Must have experience creating menus.
