    Job Description

    To assist in implementing all strategies and activities to generate and maximize overall revenue through direct sales efforts to include developing new, referred and repeat event business in a defined territory. Such revenues include rental, food & beverage and ticket sales.


    To facilitate successful events including, but not limited to, banquet functions and meeting room arrangements with the client. The manager will serve as the liaison between the client and the College Football Hall of Fame, ensuring that all information has been communicated correctly. 


    Sales Responsibilities:

    • Meet or exceed monthly and annual sales goals.
    • Meet or exceed weekly sales activity quota.
    • Develop, actively solicit, and map-out catering accounts per defined territory.
    • Maintain a complete database of accounts within the defined market segments.
    • Identify and qualify potential prospects through participating in telemarketing, tradeshows, sales blitzes and other sales initiatives.
    • Maximize outcome of all sales initiatives by promptly following-up on leads, following-up with clients on-site to identify additional business opportunities and aggressively managing accounts.
    • Follow all sales standards, policies and procedures.
    • Promote high visibility of College Football Hall of Fame through active involvement in local and industry associations.
    • Properly convey meeting room rental rates, food & beverage minimums and attraction ticket pricing within approved limits to maximize and protect the College Football Hall of Fame’s revenue yields.
    • Conduct site inspections with prospective clients.
    • Entertain clients to establish a closer working relationship when appropriate.
    • Perform in a manner that demonstrates the philosophies of The Power of One in a professional manner to clients and potential clients at every opportunity.
    • Maintain customer relations, trade relations, industry relations and staff relations.
    • Work closely and collaboratively with all departments to ensure a successful event experience.
    • Perform other tasks as needed or directed to allow for an effective operation.

    Service Responsibilities:

    • Maintain warm hospitable guest relations.
    • Uphold a thorough knowledge of the College Football Hall of Fame including event capacities, equipment inventory and operational standards so that accounts may properly be serviced.
    • Keep group files updated with important reference materials (contract, banquet event orders, diagrams, etc.).
    • Welcome client at the beginning of each function to make sure all needs are being met and introduce client to both the Banquet Captain and College Football Hall of Fame Event Manager.
    • Responsible for managing groups to the terms of their contracts to include program due dates, food and beverage minimums, contracted concessions, etc.
    • Communicate event details effectively between the client and College Football Hall of Fame Event Manager by using an event resume and banquet event orders.
    • Partners with the culinary team to create customized menus as needed to fit the client’s needs.
    • Initiate the method of payment process and assist the credit manager in all accounting procedures.
    • Distributes banquet event orders which include all food and beverage and event requirements to be reviewed with the banquets and culinary departments during the daily BEO meeting.


    • Preferably a Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university in business, communications, or hotel/event management.
    • Two years or more of hospitality or venue sales experience.
    • Proven ability to reach sales goals in complex environments.
    • Must be conversant with culinary techniques and food creativity. Knowledgeable with banquet and audio-visual sets.
    • Must have experience with proactive solicitation, sales presentations, conducting site inspections and contract negotiations.
